Books With Bite

So, I have had this book sitting on my shelves for well years….guilty! I bought it as soon as it came out (because I had heard good things about it) but I never got to it. Flash forward a few years and it has been made a movie! I had to dig through my famous tupperwares just to find this book. And I read it…finally.

Plot: This story is about a girl who is fighting a social stigma as well as family issues. Bianca isn’t the type to talk about her feelings. Though she is blunt, she is also very short with her words. Bianca finds an escape through sex. Yup. After kissing a guy (who she absolutely hates) she keeps meeting him and they go further and further. Throughout the story, Bianca learns more about herself as well as Wesley. I found the plot to be intriguing yet somewhat a disaster.

Escape: So lets stop right there. While I understand her need to “escape” all the stuff going on in her life, why did she have to escape like that? To Bianca she felt good while doing it but I felt like she was letting herself down. She talks about being independent and knowing every guys move that when she runs to that, it seems like she is being a hypocrite. She contradicts herself and her way of living. Basically she lives a lie. She tells lie and gives advice but never seeks her own.

Ending: I did however, like how in the end, Bianca faces her problems. She realizes that after running away and finding escape, that it is not all real. And she wants that. Something real. So she leaves what she is doing yet despite her mistakes she does find one thing that is real…a friendship. And so with that, the story redeemed itself for me. I like that she came to terms about what she is doing and what she needs to do to be well real.

Overall, this is a good book. Though I would strongly recommend for reader to be 18+. I have yet to see the movie but after reading the story, I would like to see it.

This story. So much feels. So much heart that is put into it, that once I was in the story there was no way I was getting out.

Plot: This is about a young girl who is in the midst of a trial. After loosing one parent, Erin much come to terms about losing the other. AHHH! I can’t even begin to say how much I love this book. I read this book at the doctors office and I had to step out due to the amount of tears coming out of my eyes! Each chapter flows well and is filled with such emotion and heart that you simply can not put it down.

Relationships: One thing I adore through out the story is relationships. Erin doesn’t go through this alone and finds great relationships along the way to pick her up. What she is going through is hard. She has a lot of tough decisions to make at such a young age. So many options just stolen from her. At times, I felt angry and wanted to be her friend. She is so quite and holds it all well.

Ending: Grab your tissue box folks. The ending is a tear jerker that just stabs you in the heart. Erin does find some peace but how it all manages to come together is just so….heartbreaking yet beautiful. Erin grows into this person that you know you will have faith in. Despite what she has learned about herself, she has faith to love and live.

I really can’t compare this book to anything else because well I can’t. I don’t think I ever read such book that carried itself with such emotions and turmoil. It’s nothing that you ever expect so definitely pick up this book. You won’t regret it.

just love these types of stories. The ones with two unlikely people that do become the perfect couple.

Plot: It senior year and all the seniors are voting for their classmates. After being voted perfect couple, Brody and Harper take it in as a joke. Then they start to fall for each other. I really admired this plot. I felt it deepen with emotions and real life decisions. This plot goes further then just senior year but what they want for their future.

Friendship/Love: Sometimes things don’t always go as well plan. That seemed to be the case with Brody and Harper. They both had girlfriend/boyfriend ( I don’t like the whole aspect of cheating, but they are in high school, not married, etc.) so them coming to the decisions of what is best is a hard to read. They must face their feelings, their friends/family as well as themselves.

Ending: The ending ended as expected. It gave me that feel good moment of watching everything come together.

Overall, I really love this series. I can’t wait to read the next book and see what couple will be together next.

Since being a special needs mom myself, I thought I give this book try. I wanted to see things from another perspective and this story gave me just that.

Plot: This is about a young girl named Amy who has a disability and becomes friends with boy named Matthew. This story tells of their friendship from beginning to end. The good, the bad and the ugly. I really enjoyed how detailed the plot was. There was no painting a pretty picture but really giving a story that tells the truth.

Friendship/Love: Having a disability lots of people think that there is no possible way for love. Yet this story tells otherwise. I like that their friendship goes beyond what anyone would think. I love that their friendship goes through trials and at some points fails. They are just like everyone else, trying to be free and on their own.

Disability: One aspect of the story is the disability itself. When one had a disability there are a lot of no’s. No you can’t do this. No you can’t do that. Guess What? Amy did. She proved people wrong no matter the cost. She got things done on her own and learned. Not everything went perfect with her, but I really admired her strength to do more.

Overall, this is a really story that gives me hope. It’s raw yet real. Say What You Will is great!

I’ve decided to pick back up this series and continue it. I read the first book and got hooked. Ever since, I wondered what new adventures awaited Ellie. Also, please note that due to pregnancy insomnia, I started this book late at night and could not stop reading it. Plus, I got a bit scared.

Plot: This is about Ellie who is a paranormal investigator/ghost trapper. She reviews the cases and finds the ones that are truly real. I really enjoyed reading about Ellie. I think she is strong and passionate about her job. This story follows Ellie into a haunted house with a malevolent back round. I really like that this plot not only moved at a great pace but it  gave the reader a great history of the house.

Haunted House: One aspect of these stories that I truly love is the detailed research that Ellie does. When she reviews cases, she not only visits but she looks into the past. And for me, researching the horrific events that happened in that house followed by creepy ghosts, really brings the story to life. I loved learning about why people did what they did and why they stay there. Every creepy movement of a door slamming, a cold room and ghost taking form, only made me read faster.

Anywho, this book is awesome! The story, the history and not to mention it gave me the chills. I stayed up past 1am just to finish it and when I did, I had to Netflix for a while just to feel better and fall asleep. (I’m a big chicken) If you love ghost stories, definitely give this book a try.

Once again, I really enjoy this series. It’s so much fun to read and to see the adventures that Val and her faithful hellhound get into.

This series is so underplayed that it saddens me. I want more people to read and know this series! It’s so awesome that I don’t understand why it isn’t promoted more! It’s is such a great series that I simply can not stop raving about it.

Plot: So as before, Val is in for another adventure and this time the vampires leader is missing. Not just missing but vanish into thin air. What?! Of course Val is on the mission and gets pulled into so much more. The plot os very detailed when it comes to action, characters and emotions. The reader is never left unfulfilled and if anything, if leaves you wanting more. I really enjoyed the movement of this series.

Val: Val’s position as the Palladin helps mold and shape Val’s character. She is becoming so much more mature with time and experience. I can safely say that I adore the way Val handles things. She doesn’t just do things on a whim but she thinks about it. She looks at both sides. Even when the decisions is tough, Val always does the right thing.

Love: FINALLY! I’m hoping that after reading all the jerk wads that just treat Val poorly, I’m happy to report that she finally has someone worthy of her. Just please cowboy, don’t mess this up. I like that there relationship is quite different. It’s feels more permanent. Like they get into arguments/fights but they still need each other. I can totally see them not only working together well but their love is blossoming.

Friends: After all the people that have abandon Val just because she is different or have used her, Val finally has some trust worthy friends! I adore that she is has people whom she can speak too and trust. Val does have a hurtful past and I’m glad that things are looking up for her.

End: Please tell me there is another book?? I can not bare it if it ends. There needs to be more. I can see Val growing and maturing so I think it will end soon but still, I want more.

If you love Richelle Mead (VA Series) or Jennifer Estep (Mytho’s Academy) you will definitely enjoy this series. Please give it a try!!

So as I began this book I really wasn’t sure what I was in for. I expected a good mystery but not like this. Once I began the story, I was hooked.

Plot: This is about a girl who meets two boys and then decides to go on a road trip with them. (I’ll get to more of that later.) During this trip, Cadie realizes that something is off. As she gets further and further away from home, Cadie soon discovers that the boys she met are not all that they seem. So this plot is very intriguing in a, dumb kind of way. I mean, why would you go on a road trip with TWO boys you just met? I get that she wants freedom/space. I get that her life has been hard, but I gritted my teeth when I realized that she made her final decision. And like the good reader I am, I followed her into the unknown.

Road trip: Unbeknownst to her, Cadie begins to learn more about the boys. The boys are Noah and Matt, who are cousins, clearly running from stuff as well. I love the slow build up of their stories, the missing persons, the drive further away from home. I have to admit that at time this story gave me anxiety.

The devil you know: Of course the title is right on. Most of the time, danger is right there underneath your nose. You just haven’t noticed it. I thought for sure I knew what was happening, but that small twist at the end had me gasping,” No way!” I kept reading and loved the way the story came together.

Once again, Ms. Doller created such a imaginative, amazing story. My only gripe is that not so smart decision to go on a road trip. But then again, if Cadie didn’t jump we wouldn’t have the story today. If you are into mysteries, definitely get this book.

Alright, so where do I begin? This is the sequel to Branded, which I totally adored. So if you have not picked up this book you should.

Plot: A quick re-cap would be in this world you are branded by your sin. Lust, pride, anger, etc. So in this story, Lexi is on the run with Cole, a former guard at the hole. I can tell you that  this plot is very fast paced. It definitely takes the reader in right away, spinning you off in car chases, gun fights, and lots of losses.

Losses/Friendships: One of the best things about the book is the relationships that are established. I really like how each relationship either builds up or brings down the characters. There are lots of secrets to be unraveled. I mean, with every turn of the chapter is got better and better.

Ending: I have to admit that there are certain things I did not see coming. It made me feel off. Like, how could that happen? THAT was not supposed to happened! Just so many accusations, secrets and torture that by the end, it left me shaken up.

My only issue is that the story felt (in the beginning) like it did the first book. It was pretty much the same story until the middle where things began to change. Other than that, I really enjoyed the story.

I would recommend this book to those who love dystopian. It is much different than what is put out there all the time on the shelves. Hunted is awesome!

really love stories that are not only realistic but just raw. This book has so many raw emotions that at the end, I had no idea how to even contain myself. I didn’t even know how to even begin to separated my emotions. There was sadness, anger, bitterness and just everything in between.

Plot: To warn others, this story is about rape. So if you are sensitive to the subject I suggest you take care when reading it. Moving on…the plot is well done. I like how it starts off with this girl just wanting to be seen. She wants to be notice. It’s all in an innocent kind of way. You can tell that this girl wants to fit in. But instead things turn awful for her in a snap. The plot definitely pulls the reader in a state where you want to help so much. You just want to make things right. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I wanted to help.

Survivor: After all that she been thorough, the bulling is what got me. What worse is that its girls that are bullying her? Like really? How can you bully your own friend? How can you stand there and watch it happened? I can tell you that this part of the book just made me angry.

Ending: The end made me a bit more okay once I saw things coming together. It was a tough thing to read but I really like how this author just captures more than rape. She captures every emotion that follows and the people who contribute to it.

I can’t wait to read more from Ms. Summers. She is surely one author you must read.

FINALLY! I had this book eyeing me from the shelf just begging me to read it. I did suffer a little of #seriesenderphobia  because, lets be honest, I don’t want it to end!

Plot: The plot follows as I thought it would with a few extra tidbits. I throughly enjoyed the growth of the characters as well as the search for characters. Lots of great secrets are exposed and it definitely kept me firmly in the story.

Adrian/Syndey: This couple is simply the best! Really. I liked how they are not only best friends to each other but really work with each other. They have each other best interest in their minds always. It cute to see them together working things out step by step.

Ending: For me, the ending felt perfect. Everything seamlessly came together for this couple and I couldn’t be happier. I really wish that there was more but I’m happy with the ending.

Once again, this author is amazing. I adore Vampire Academy series and this series is just as good. I can’t wait to read what she writes next!

When this book hit my desk, I knew I just had to read it. It sounded really good and I was totally in for a story that would sweep me off my feet. Unfortunately, this book fell flat for me.

Issues: My biggest issue is that there are too many questions and not enough answers. Like, who is that old lady? Why did Mina fall pregnant while being a virgin? Is there a bigger picture to this? Are angels/demons/heaven/hell involved in any kind of way? Did Aliens in-pregnant her? GEEZE TELL ME WHAT IT IS!! This story is written well but doesn’t provide the reader with any bread crumbs to go on. I kept on reading, hoping that the author would drop a hint or two and instead, I found myself desperate for answers. Anything!! There was no indication of “SOMETHING BIG” was going to happen. The reader is left in a limbo at the end of the story and that folks just left me unsatisfied.

Story: The story follows a good lead. Mina is a well rounded girl, with good friends and a great boyfriend. She is indeed going places. She works hard and concentrates on school. I can relate how this unexpected pregnancy throws her off yet helps her character grow. While her life may be in shambles, she knows what she wants and fights for it.

Supernatural: There is definitely supernatural events going on. I, for one, would really want to know what! I would consider picking up the next book (if there is one) only to find some closure with this story. I can give the author that much credit. She definitely left me in a wonder of WHY? Why Mina? Why the pregnancy? Why the conspiracy? PLEASE TELL ME!!!

This is a good story is you definitely want to feel out of the loop. I wouldn’t recommend it if you want answers now because you won’t get them. So lets hope that there is a second book cause man, I really want to know.

I honestly thought that when I started this book that I hand it pegged. It started pretty typical and everything seemed to be going as planned. But then the author did something brilliant. It all changed.

Plot: This is about a girl who is doing her best to move on with her life. After tragedy has struck, she is simply learning to move on or rather let others move on. I like that this plot is surprising. I honestly didn’t expect certain events to occur and yet when they did, it made me happy!

Relationships: This is what caught me by surprise. When I first began to read it, I thought,” Sweet! This is what I’m looking for.” All opportunities came about for her to fall for “the” guy but then a new guy sneakily (yes sneakingly) came into the picture. As the chapters wore on, once there was this guy in the background and is now front and center! How in the world did THAT happen?  Even I who was hooked onto the book was shocked by how this guy just showed himself in the story. It was like, as each chapter went by he became clearer and clearer. Why didn’t I see him before?

Ending: Like Paige, I thought I knew what I wanted. I had a plan. I would read this sweet contemporary story and dream on blissfully. So not what happen. Things change. And I wondered if I like this change. I did. So I kept reading and kept thinking things through. I found myself in the mist of the story completely taken away.

Overall, this is a very good read. I look forward to reading more from this author. Everyone should go read this book now!

After reading so many great reviews on this book I just knew I had to read it. It was what I wanted and offered so much more.

Plot: This is about a girl named Marguerite who lives in a time of time travel. I can’t really explain other than it reminded me of the movie Jumper but instead of jumping to places, she can jump to different parallel universes. This indeed intrigued me to no end and it made me read the book faster.

Relationships: This book is all about relationships. Relationships with friends/co-workers, parents, etc. I really enjoyed how all of these relationships develop over the period of the story. The reader is able to know more about her parents, her history and why she is traveling to different parallel universes.

Parallel Universes: One other great aspect of the story are the different parallel universes. You travel to the past, the future yet the author keeps all parts of that history intact. You don’t feel confused yet you feel as if you just step into another universe with the same characters. Thats the other great part I loved. The characters, even in other parallel universe remain the same. So you don’t loose the characters you know. In fact, I think the different parallel universes help bring out the characters emotions even more.

Honestly, I adored this book. I loved the time travel. I loved the characters. I just in general really loved the whole story. I can’t wait to read the second book!

Super excited to read this debut, I read it in just a few hours. I really loved the movement of the plot and the setting.

Plot: Since I have not read an dystopian book in a while, I thought it was time to dive into one. I have heard many good things about this book and yes, it was very good. The plot is in the future where a disease has ravaged the human race. A cure was found but not without consequences. Now all humans are traced through a system. That system is more complex than what the reader ever thought. One thing I enjoyed with the plot is the following the bread crumbs to more information. I love that the author didn’t divulge information right away, but slowly gave the reader bits and pieces of it.

The initiative: I really like this aspect of the story. The story of the disease, the cure and what other stuff the scientist has done is crazy good. If your the type of reader who like science as well as experiments, you will definitely get into the story.

Irony: I think this book has quite of bit of irony in it. The heroine is more than what we thought as well as the guy. I love the aspect of what they were created for and the secrets at the end. It kept me well on the edge of my seat!

Overall, this is a great story. The Murder Complex is vivid yet entertaining. As the story unfolds, The Murder Complex captures the reader with a riveting plot and high action.

read this book because I have always been fascinated with the seventh son of a seventh son. I remember watching a few movies regarding this scenario that I really wanted to give it a try. I also enjoy fantasy, so this book was definitely for me.

Plot: This is about an apprentice to begins to apprentice a seventh daughter of a seventh daughter. Because of her heritage, she had powers. The apprenticeship is quite detailed so the reader can get into the story rather quickly. If you enjoy all things witches, spooks, magic then you will really enjoy this story.

Tom/Jenny: I have to say that one aspect I really enjoy was their relationship. At first, Tom is really mean and even blows off Jenny as nothing. Jenny is a strong willed girl, fighting her way to an apprenticeships. When she wants something she goes after it. I rooted for her because I loved her determination to make something of herself when others, including Tom, told her she couldn’t. Tom is nice guy who I think can learn a lot from Jenny. Well, they can both learn a lot from each other. They have a very good and open friendship but I am hoping that maybe something more will happen between them. They do get into each other faces a lot and it would be neat to see they confront their feelings.

Ending: The ending is quite good and leaves the door open for plenty of more adventures. I can’t wait to see where the story goes to next.

A New Darkness entales a great adventure of fantasy and magic. Nicely written, A New Darkness is great.

Wanting another scary read for this Halloween, I thought a take a dive back in the asylum.

Plot: This story still follows Dan and his crazy past or rather his relatives. This time it circus time. With more crazy people telling Daniel things and Daniel following his past, things get crazier and crazier.

Circus: This time Daniel is being stalked with old creepy circus photos. There were a few that made the hairs raise on my arm. Seriously creepy. I like how well the plot tied into the circus and the experiment that Daniel was doing in the past. We learn more about why he is doing it and for what purpose.

Ending: The ending ends still creepy and leaving room for more. I would’t mind reading more into what Dan is becoming. It seems that the further I got into the book, the less Dan became Dan and was becoming Daniel. I’m curious to know what is going through his head.

This is a great story for this time of month. A good creepy read and a fun plot to follow, the reader is entertained plenty. Sanctum is awesome.
