Review: The Death Cure

The Death Cure - James Dashner

Alright, I finally finished this series. And I’m disappointed. Not so much in the plot but in the characters.

Plot: So the plot is pretty  good. The whole reason for the maze is revealed and wow, it is crazy!! I adored that the information was given to the reader right away. The reader isn’t being dragged through the book just waiting for information. The plot moves fast and so much is going on that as the reader you are excited!! As I read through this story, I couldn’t wait to see how it ended. All the connections where made through out the story, and it only awed me more of how well this story is written. It keeps you at the edge of your seat.

Love/Friendship: This is the part the bugged me the most. First off, the main character acts like a girl. Thomas is very emotional for a guy. In the sequel, I forgave him for it since he just learn a few things and was hurt. In this story, he was just a jerk. He never gave her a chance. He always used everything and any excuse against her and honestly I got tired of him throwing it in her face every few pages. He worried about her but he didn’t trust her. Seriously dude? Stop being butthurt about things and get over it. It was all a game. And the way he held it over her head really made me dislike him. Especially cause he fell for another girl with no real base for his feelings. It was like insta-love with the second chick. I did not like that at all. Seriously, he acts worse than a girl who is pmsing. Usually at the end of the book, I adore the hero. Not me. At the end of the book I was glad to be done with it because Thomas annoyed me. And I don’t like him.

Ending: There are a few other plot twist that happens to characters that I’m not happy about. And why it is that authors have to kill off important people on the last book! HUH? WHYYYY??? This character didn’t even get the chance to redeem their self cause of the chaos yet they sacrifice everything….SMH (Dude, I’m so done with series books…)

Overall, this is an okay book. I really like the plot but the love interest/ending really threw me off and I didn’t like the characters actions or decisions. And since the movie is coming out soon, I’m not even sure I want to watch the movie. Honestly, if this is the way it is going to end…then no. Just no. If you do decide to read this, then be prepared for some major changes.
