Ghost Town (Morganville Vampires, Book 9)

Ghost Town - Rachel Caine OK, what is up with all these villains and taking no consideration over what their humans subjects do for them? I mean, you would think after all the crap that Claire went through in saving this town of vampires they be a little sympathetic towards her right? Wrong. After only trying to protect herself, Claire is in deep trouble. Amelie, faced with angry vampires is trying to make things right for everyone. Claire is punished by sentence to work, with no sleep, no breaks, until she gets the machine working again. After it is done, things start to go haywire.Claire's punishment, to my belief is cruel. I understand you want her to work, fine. But with no sleep? No breaks? How is she supposed to make a machine run if she is dead tired. Plus, they left her down there with a bat-craze vampire! During this section I was biting my nails. Poor Claire couldn't even move her legs. Its no wonder that stupid machine went haywire. The after effects was just weird and heartbreaking. People were forgetting who they were and slowly forgot who Claire was. She was running out of time and running out of people for help. I felt for Claire. Claire was running around trying to help people and people had no idea who she was. When Shane forgot, it broke my heart. I wanted nothing more but to make everyone remember to ease Claire's pain. Even at that, Claire stood strong, tugging along finding a way to fix the machine. In the end, lives were lost and memories where put back in place. But not with the effects already taking its toll on the town and all because of one person. I won't name them. But this is one person that I really enjoyed as a character and what they did, ugh. It just hurt me.Once again Ms. Caine has done it again with her fabulous writing. The Morganville Vampires series is one that I can read over and over again without getting bored. All of her books are filled with great entertainment and non-stop fun. Her characters always bring a smile to my face. And I can always get lost in Morganville. (As long as Claire finds me.) LOL!
